The title compound (L) forms copper(I) complexes, [CuL(X)}n](X = Cl or Br), on reaction with the appropriate copper(II) halide. These probably contain dimeric units, each copper being in a S3X environment produced by a chelating L, one bridging sulphur atom from the second L ligand, and a terminal halide.
