Reaction of the β-ketophosphonate anion ligands [(C2H5O)2P(O)CHCOCH2R]− R = N(CH3)2, La; RN(C2H5)2, Lb; RN(CH2)4O Lc; R = N(CH25, Ld) with nickel and cobalt nitrates and perchlorates leads to new compounds of the type [Ni7(OH)6(L)6](NO3)2 (L = La, Lb, Lc, Ld). These compounds are characterized by elemental and crystallographic analyses and are shown to be 2–1 electrolytes in nitromethane solution
