  Fully and partially arylamine-terminated polysulfide polymers and processes for their preparation and use are disclosed. The fully arylamine-terminated products are curable with polyisocyanates to high molecular weight polymers which are useful in molding and casting as well as in sealants. The partially arylamine-terminated polymers may be further reacted with polyisocyanates to form thiol-terminated polysulfide polymers containing urea chain segments. These compounds are curable in the same manner as standard polysulfide polymers to form firmer polymers. The partially arylamine-terminated polymers may also be chain extended using isocyanate-terminated urethane prepolymers. These block copolymers may be cured by standard SH-terminated polysulfide polymer curing methods to prepare sealants of exceptional resiliency and weather resistance.

  Es werden 2,4, 6-Triketohexahydrotriazine durch katalytische Trimerisierung von organischen Isocyanaten mittels eines Katalysators der allgemeinen Formel hergestellt, in der R Wasserstoff- oder ein C, - C4-Alkylrest und Me ein zweiwertiges Metallkation bedeutet, sowie hydrierte Derivate davon. Die Katalysatormenge liegt zwischen 0, 1 - 5 Gew. %, vorzugsweise 0,5 - 3 Gew. %, und die Trimerisierung erfolgt in einem inerten polaren Lösungsmittel in einer Menge von 5 - 40 Gew. %, vorzugsweise 10 - 12 Gew. %, jeweils bezogen auf eingesetztes Isocyanat bei Temperaturen von 60 -150°C, vorzugsweise 80 -130°C. Bei einem Umsatz von etwa 50 %wird die Reaktion durch Kühlung abgebrochen und das entstandene Isocyanurat auf bekannte Weise isoliert. Es werden isocyanatgruppenhaltige 2, 4, 6-Triketohexahydrotriazine folgender Struktur hergestellt: worin Rein zweiwertiger Rest aus der Gruppe und und n - 1 - 5 ist.

  Curable molding compositions comprising a mixture of: I. from about 25 to about 90 weight percent of a thermosetting resin containing: (a) from about 5 to about 95 weight percent of a polyester resin derived from the reaction of a poly(acrylate) and a vinyl monomer, said poly(acrylate) and vinyl monomer essentially free from functional groups reactive with the polyol of the polyisocyanate of (b); (b) from about 95 to about 5 weight percent of a polyurethane derived from the reaction of a saturated polyol and a polyisocyanate, said polyol and polyisocyanate free from unsaturated groups capable of copolymerizing with the poly(acrylate) or vinyl monomer of (a); and II. from about 75 to about 10 weight percent of one or more fibers with a melting point or a glass transition temperature above about 130°C; wherein (b) constitutes less than 40 weight percent of (I) and (II). These compositions are especially suited to produce thermoset fiber-reinforced molded articles by rapid injection molding techniques.
