Total syntheses of nine novel phospholipids were accomplished to facilitate the identification and biological testing of compounds that are generated upon oxidative cleavage of arachidonate and linoleate esters of 2-lysophosphatidylcholine, the two most abundant polyunsaturated phospholipids in low-density lipoprotein.
