5,15-diaminotetrabenzoporphyrins: Synthesis and spectral properties

A zinc complex of 5,15-di(N-phthalimidyl)tetrabenzoporphyrin was obtained by the reaction of Ncarboxymethylphthalimide with 1-oxo-1H-3-(1-oxoisoindolin-3-ylidenemethyl)isoindole and zinc oxide. The complex demetallation affords 5,15-di(N-phthalimidyl)tetrabenzoporphyrin. The reaction of N-phthalimidylsubstituted tetrabenzoporphyrins with hydrazine hydrate leads to the formation of 5,15-diaminotetrabenzoporphyrins. Spectral properties of these compounds were studied.
Zinc complexes of meso-alkyl-substituted tetrabenzoporphines and their aza-derivatives have been. synthesized using the interaction of phthalimide or its derivatives with zinc salts of the carboxylic acids. The porphyrin-ligands were obtained on the basis of the above mentioned compounds. The spectral and mesomorphic properties of the synthesized compounds were studied.

Sandwich-type asymmetric complexes of yttrium, neodymium, gadolinium, and dysprosium were synthesized by the reaction of the corresponding meso-trans-bis(hexadecyl)tetrabenzoporphyrinates with dilithium phthalocyianine. Spectral properties of these compounds were investigated.

meso-Monophenyltetrabenzoporphine and its zinc complex were synthesized starting from 3-(3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-1-yiidenemethyl)-1H-isoindol-1-one. The effect of unsymmetrical meso-substitution on physical and spectral properties of the products is discussed. The results of quantum-chemical calculations suggest spatial distortion of the porphyrin macroring.
