    The invention relates to polycyclic polyamines of formula I wherein m is an integer having the value 0 or 1; X and Y, which may be the same or different, each represents a group, subject to the proviso that X and Y may not both represent -CH2NH2 groups; and R1, R2, R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of polycyclic polyamines of formula I and to epoxy resins cured by the use of such compounds which may act as non-visibly carbonating epoxy curing agents and furthermore, unlike many other amines, exhibit a mild amine odour.

    Composition and process for production of rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foam, and foam made from such composition and by such process. A composition for production of rigid polyurethane foam includes a) an organic compound containing at least 1.8 isocyanate-reactive groups per molecule; b) an organic polyisocyanate selected from the group consisting of: b1) alkyl or cycloalkyl polyisocyanates having at least two isocyanate groups, and in which the alkyl portion contains 2-6 carbon atoms; and b2) aromatic polyisocyanates containing at least 2 isocyanate groups, and at least two six-membered aromatic rings which are fused together or are joined by a carbon-carbon bond or are linked by a divalent linkage selected from the group consisting of alkylene groups of 1-6 carbon atoms, -O-, -CO-, -CO₂-, -S-, and -SO₂-; c) a catalytically effective amount of a catalyst capable of promoting formation of urethane bonds; d) an effective amount of a hydrochlorofluorocarbon blowing agent; and e) a foam stabilizing amount of a hydrolytically stable siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer surfactant containing capped hydroxyl groups in the oxyalkylene portion of the molecule. A process for making rigid polyurethane foam involves reacting and foaming such composition.

    The present invention has an object to provide curatives for epoxy resins and curing accelerators for epoxy resins, which both have improved subliming and decomposing properties and which, when mixed with an epoxy resin, enable the mixture to be greatly improved in thermal stability that is extremely important for the control of a curing reaction and to have a prolonged pot life (stability as a one-pack mixture comprising the epoxy resin, curative, etc.) and improved curability at low temperatures. The curative is characterized by being a clathrate comprising a tetrakisphenol compound represented by a general formula [I]; wherein X represents (CH2)n, wherein n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, and R1 to R8 each represents hydrogen, a lower alkyl, optionally-substituted phenyl, halogeno or a lower alkoxy, and the curing accelerator is characterized by being a clathrate comprising a tetrakisphenol compound represented by the general formula [I] shown above and a compound accelerating the curing of a compound which reacts with the epoxy group of an epoxy resin to cure the resin.
