    Process for esterification of farnesol in an initial mixture comprising alpha-bisabolol, farnesol and optionally other components, with the following steps: 1. Preparation or production of the initial mixture, 2. Adding (i) a transesterification catalyst and (ii) one or more compounds of formula (B) R 2 Y n CO 2 R 1 (B) in which the following applies: R 1 stands for an alkyl residue with 1 to 12 C atoms; R 2 stands for hydrogen, an alkyl residue with 1 to 20 C atoms, a cycloalkyl residue with 5 to 20 C atoms, an aryl residue with 6 to 20 C atoms or a heteroaryl residue with 5 to 20 C atoms; and Y stands for CH 2 , CH(Me), CH(Et), C(Me) 2 , CH 2 —CH(Me), CH(Me)-CH 2 or CH 2 —CH(Me)-CH 2 and n stands for a whole number from 0 to 6; or R 2 stands for a group CO 2 R 3 , R 3 standing for an alkyl residue with 1 to 12 C atoms; and Y stands for CH 2 , CH(Me), CH(Et), C(Me) 2 , CH 2 —CH(Me), CH(Me)-CH 2 or CH 2 —CH(Me)-CH 2 and n stands for a whole number from 0 to 8, or Y stands for an optionally substituted phenyl or naphthyl ring with a total of at most four substituents on the ring, n=1 applying.

    A diester represented by the formula wherein A represents a cyclohexane ring, cyclohexene ring or benzene ring, X is H or methyl group, R X and R Y are the same or different and each is C3-C18 branched-chain alkyl group, C1-C18 straight-chain alkyl group, C2-C18 straight-chain alkenyl or C3-C18 cycloalkyl, provided that when A is a benzene ring, R X and R Y are different from each other and —COOR X and —COOR Y are attached to two adjacent carbon atoms of the benzene ring, and having the following properties: 1) a total acid number of 0.05 mgKOH/g or less, 2) a sulfated ash content of 10 ppm or less, 3) a sulfur content of 20 ppm or less, 4) a phosphorus content of 20 ppm or less, 5) a peroxide value of 1.0 meq/kg or less, 6) a carbonyl value of 10 or less; 7) a volume resistivity of 1×10 11 Ω·cm or more, 8) a hydroxyl value of 3 mgKOH/g or less, and 9) a water content of 100 ppm or less, a process for preparing the same and a refrigerator lubricating oil comprising the diester.

    Disclosed is a process for producing polybutene-1 suitable to be molded into pipes and the like by vapor phase polymerization in the presence of a catalyst obtained from (A) a solid catalyst component obtained from a magnesium compound, an electron donating compound and a halide of tetravalent titanium (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C) an electron donor wherein said solid catalyst component (A) has an average particle size of 5-200µm, a geometrical standard deviation (σ g) of particle size distribution of less than 2.1 and a molar ratio of electron donating compound/magnesium of 0.01 or more and said electron donor (C) is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a heterocyclic compound represented by the formula: (wherein R¹, R², R³, R⁴ and R⁵ are as defined before), an ether compound represented by the formula:     R6nC(OR⁷)4-n      (2) (wherein R⁶ and R⁷ and n are as defined before) and an organic peroxide represented by the formula: (wherein R⁸, R⁹, R¹⁰ and R¹¹ are as defined), and the vapor phase polymerization is carried out at a molar ratio of hydrogen/butene-1 of 0.001-0.1.
