The thermal decomposition of di-n-butylboron azide Bu2BN3 gives N2, butene, and a borazene BuxH6−xB3N3, where x decreases with increasing decomposition temperature. Tetraaryl-1,3,2,4-diazadiboretanes are formed as the main products when diarylboron azides are heated, and arylphenylboron azides can be decomposed to similar products; hexaarylborazenes are found as by-products.
