    One aspect of the present invention relates to a catalyst system for use in olefinic polymerization, containing a solid titanium catalyst component; an organoaluminum compound having at least one aluminum-carbon bond; and an organosilicon compound comprising a (cycloalkyl)methyl group. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method of making a catalyst for use in olefinic polymerization, involving the steps of reacting a Grignard reagent having a (cycloalkyl)methyl group with an orthosilicate to provide an organosilicon compound having a (cycloalkyl)methyl moiety; and combining the organosilicon compound with an organoaluminum compound having at least one aluminum-carbon bond and a solid titanium catalyst component to form the catalyst.

    Disclosed are catalyst systems and methods of making the catalyst systems/supports for the polymerization of an olefin containing a solid titanium catalyst component having a substantially spherical shape and containing a titanium compound and a support made from a magnesium compound and an alkyl silicate. The catalyst system may further contain an organoaluminum compound and an organosilicon compound. Also disclosed are methods of making an impact copolymer involving polymerizing an olefin to provide a polyolefin matrix and polymerizing a polyolefin rubber using a solid titanium catalyst component containing a titanium compound and a support made from a magnesium compound and an alkyl silicate.

    A process for producing an olefin polymer or copolymer which comprises polymerizing or copolymerizing olefins or copolymerizing an olefin with up to 5 mole% of a diolefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a titanium catalyst component containing magnesium, titanium, halogen and an electron donor, an organoaluminum catalyst component and a third catalyst component, characterized in that said catalyst is composed of (A) a titanium catalyst component containing magnesium, titanium, halogen and an electron donor as essential ingredients, said electron donor being selected from the group consisting of (a) esters of polyfunctional compounds selected from polycarboxylic acids having 5 to 36 carbon atoms, polyhydroxy compounds having 6 to 28 carbon atoms and hydroxy-substituted carboxylic acids having 10 to 28 carbon atoms, (b) monocarboxylic acid esters of the formula RCOOR' in which each of R and R' represents a hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and at least one of them represents a branched-chain group, an alicyclic group, or an aryl ring-containing linear group, and (c) carbonic acid esters having 6 to 18 carbon atoms, (B) an organoaluminum compound, and (C) a substituted methylenediamine compound as a third component; and a catalyst composition used therefor.

    A catalyst formed from     (A) a solid titanium catalyst component con­taining magnesium, titanium, halogen and a polycarboxylic acid ester as essential ingredients and being obtained by contacting a magnesium compound, a titanium compound and a polycarboxylic acid ester,     (B) an organoaluminum compound, and     (C) an organosilicon compound represented by the following formula (1)     SiR¹R²(OR³)₂      (1)     wherein R¹ is selected from the class consist­ing of linear alkyl groups having at least 3 carbon atoms and arylalkyl groups in which the alkyl moiety has a secondary or tertiary alpha-­carbon atom, R² is selected from the class consisting of alkyl groups and arylalkyl groups in which the alkyl moiety has a secondary or tertiary alpha-carbon atom, and R³ is a hydrocarbon groups, with the proviso that when R¹ is a linear alkyl group having at least 3 carbon atoms and R² is an alkyl group, the alkyl group for R² is a linear alkyl group having at least 3 carbon atoms, and process of production thereof.
