The syntheses of the cyclic diynes 8−20 could be achieved. Common to all of them are one dimethylsilyl group (8, 9, 11, 13), one dimethylgermyl group (10, 12, 14), two dimethylsilyl groups (15, 17), two dimethylgermyl groups (16), or three dimethylsilyl groups (18−20) in the bridges between the triple bonds. X-ray investigations on the single crystals of 8, 9, and 11 reveal twisted chairlike conformations
