  acyldemetallation reactions of organomercurials (R2Hg or AlkHgI) provide a mild, selective, and general method for the synthesis of unsymmetrical heterocyclic ketones. High yields of ketones (RCOR′) were obtained along with small amounts of homocoupling products (R2).
