  The invention relates to novel cephem compounds of high antimicrobial activity of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is amino, lower alkanoylamino, ar(lower)alkanoylamino, amino- or alkanoylaminothiazolyl(lower)alkanoylamino having a lower alkoxyimino, amino- or alkanoylaminothiazolyl(lower)alkanoylamino an ar(lower)alkoxycarbonyl(lower)alkoxyamino, aminothiazolyl(lower)alkanoylamino having a carboxy(lower)alkoxyamino, or aminothiadiazolyl(lower)alkanoylamino having a lower alkoxyimino, R.sup.2 is 2,2,-dihalovinyl or ethynyl, and R.sup.3 is carboxy or protected carboxy, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
