  (EN) The present invention relates to therapeutically active azabicyclic compounds, a method of preparing the same and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds. The novel compounds are useful as stimulants of the cognitive function of the forebrain and hippocampus of mammals and especially in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, severe painful conditions of glaucoma. The novel compounds of the invention are heterocyclic compounds having formula (I) wherein X is oxygen or sulphur; G is selected from one of the following azabicyclic rings (II) or (III) wherein the thiadiazole or oxadiazole ring can be attached at any carbon atom of the azabicyclic ring; R1 and R2 may be present at any position, including the point of attachment of the thiadiazole or oxadiazole ring.(FR) L'invention concerne des composés azabicycliques thérapeutiquement actifs, un procédé permettant de les préparer et des compositions pharmaceutiques les comprenant. Ces nouveaux composés servent à stimuler la fonction cognitive du prosencéphale et de l'hippocampe des mammifères, surtout pour le traitement de la maladie d'Alzheimer, des états fortement douloureux et du glaucome. Ces nouveaux composés hétérocycliques inventés correspondent à la formule (I), où X représente oxygène ou soufre; G est sélectionné parmi un des cycles azabicycliques suivants (II) ou (III), où le cycle thiadiazole ou oxadiazole peut être rattaché à tout atome de carbone du cycle azabicyclique; R1 et R2 peuvent se trouver en n'importe quelle position y compris le point de rattachement du cycle thiadiazole ou oxadiazole.
