  N,N-Diformylanilines were prepared by the reaction of formanilide N-sodium derivatives with acetic-formic anhydride. Treatment of the N,N-diformylanilines with PCl5 and POCl3 solution led to N,N-bis(dichloromethyl)anilines, which were transformed to N,N- bis(difluoromethyl)anilines by reaction with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride in pentane solution.
