    An adhesive composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a block copolymer (a) containing of at least one polymer block composed mainly of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and at least one polymer block composed mainly of butadiene in which (i) the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon content [S] is 10 to 30% by weight, (ii) the 1,2-vinyl content of butadiene portion [V] is 20 to 50%, and (iii) the relationship between said vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon content [S] and said 1,2-vinyl content of butadiene portion [V] satisfies the formula: 40 to 200 parts by weight of a tackifier (b), and, optionally contain various stabilizers; and a process for producing said composition.

    A terminal-modified block copolymer wherein an amino group- or amino group-containing, terminal-treating agent is bound to the terminals of the polymer. It is obtained by reacting the active terminals of a block copolymer of a conjugated diene with a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon comprising 5 to 95 % of a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon and having a number- average molecular weight of 5,000 to 1,000,000 (obtained by using at least one member selected from among alkali metals and organic alkali metal compounds as a polymerization initiator) with at least one terminal-treating agent selected from among imide compounds, cyanamide compounds, aziridinyl compounds, amide compounds, and other tertiary amino group-containing compounds. A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition excellent in adhesiveness and anti-creeping properties comprising said block copolymer and a tackifying resin, a water-absorbing composition comprising said block copolymer and a highly water-absorbing resin, a thermoplastic resin composition comprising said block copolymer and a thermoplastic resin, and a conductive composition comprising said block copolymer and a conductive material are also disclosed.

    A composition comprising, (a) 1 to 99 parts by weight of a specific hydrogenated product of a block copolymer having at least one polymer block composed mainly of a vinyl aromatic compound and at least one polymer block composed mainly of a conjugated diene compound, a modified product which comprises said product modified with an α,8-unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof, or a mixture of said product and said modified product, wherein the content of the vinyl aromatic compound prior to hydrogenation is 5 to 95 % by weight and a content of vinyl linkages [V] prior to hydrogenation which originated from the conjugated diene compound is 10 to 80 %, said product satisfying the following conditions; (1) the hydrogenated ratio [A] of the total of aliphatic double bonds which originated from the conjugated diene compound is not lower than 5 % and lower than 50 %, and (2) [B]/[V]1/2 = 3 to 20, wherein [B] is the hydrogenated ratio of the vinyl linkage portions which originated from the conjugated diene compound, and (b) 99 to 1 parts by weight of at least one thermoplastic substance selected from the group consisting of tackifier resins, thermoplastic resins and bituminous materials, and a process for producing the same.

    An adhesive composition excellent in tackiness, adhesiveness, and creep resistance characteristic which comprises said block copolymer and a tackifier resin, a water-absorbing composition comprising said block copolymer and a highly water-absorbing resin, a thermoplastic resin composition comprising said block copolymer and a thermoplastic resin, and an electroconductive composition comprising said block copolymer and an electroconductive material, which consists of a terminal-modified block copolymer having the rest of the terminal-treating agent bonded to the polymer terminal which is obtained by treating the active terminal of a block copolymer comprising conjugated dienes and vinylaromatic hydrocarbon compounds which is obtained by using as the polymerization initiator at least one member selected from alkali metals or organoalkali metals and has a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon content of 5 to 95% by weight and a number average molecular weight of 5,000 to 1,000,000.

    Rubber compositions for tire treads. Typically, they contain a rubber component containing at least 70 parts by weight of a styrene-butadiene rubber whose styrene content is 20 to 60%; and contain, based on 100 parts by weight of the rubber component, 5 to 150 parts by weight of a powdery inorganic compound represented by formula (I) and having a particle size from 0.01 to 10 µm:         mM¹ · xSiOy · zH₂O   (I) in which M¹ is at least one selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ti, and Ca; any oxide of any one of the metals; or any hydroxide of any one of the metals; and m, x, y, and z are integers from 1 to 5, 0 to 10, 2 to 5, and 0 to 10, respectively; and 5 to 170 parts by weight of carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific area of 80 to 280 m/g so that the total amount of the powdery inorganic compound and the carbon black falls in the range of 70 to 200 parts by weight. The amount of an extract obtained by extracting the rubber composition after being vulcanized from acetone and chloroform should be 30 to 270 parts by weight. Similar compositions containing silica are also disclosed.
