    The roles of the endothelium‐derived nitric oxide, prostacyclin and endothelium‐derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) in mediating vasodilator responses to acetylcholine and bradykinin were assessed in the ciliary vascular bed of the bovine isolated perfused eye preparation. Vasodilatation to acetylcholine or bradykinin was unaffected by the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, L‐NAME (100 μM), or the cyclo‐oxygenase inhibitor, flurbiprofen (30 μM), but was virtually abolished following treatment with a high concentration of KCl (30 mM), or by damaging the endothelium with the detergent, CHAPS (0.3%, 2 min). Acetylcholine‐induced vasodilatation was unaffected by glibenclamide (10 μM), an inhibitor of ATP‐sensitive K+ channels (K+ATP), but was significantly attenuated by TEA (10 mM), a non‐selective inhibitor of K+ channels. The small conductance calcium‐sensitive K+ channel (SK+Ca) inhibitor, apamin (100 nM), and the large conductance calcium‐sensitive K+ channel (BK+Ca) inhibitor, iberiotoxin (50 nM), had no significant effect on acetylcholine‐induced vasodilatation. In contrast, the intermediate (IK+Ca)/large conductance calcium‐sensitive K+ channel inhibitor, charybdotoxin (50 nM), powerfully blocked these vasodilator responses, and uncovered a vasoconstrictor response. The combination of apamin (100 nM) with a sub‐threshold concentration of charybdotoxin (10 nM) significantly attenuated acetylcholine‐induced vasodilatation, but the combination of apamin (100 nM) with iberiotoxin (50 nM) had no effect. In conclusion, blockade by a high concentration of KCl, by charybdotoxin, or by the combination of apamin with a sub‐threshold concentration of charybdotoxin, strongly suggests that vasodilatation in the bovine isolated perfused eye is mediated by an EDHF.     A pesticidal composition comprising: about 2.0% to 30.0%, by weight, of a pesticide, the technical grade of said pesticide having an acute dermal LD50 value, measured on rats or rabbits, of less than 50 mg/kg; about 5.0% to 20.0%, by weight, of a polyvinyl chloride or polyvinyl chloride/vinyl ester copolymer or homopolymer having a weight average molecular weight of about 200,000 to 400,000 and an inherent viscosity, as determined by ASTMD 1243, of about 1.00 to 1.32; about 5.0% to 15.0%, by weight, of a secondary plasticizing agent; about 0.3% to 2.0%, by weight, of a heat stabilizing agent for said resin; about 0.5% to 2.0%, by weight, of a surface active agent; about 40.0% to 80.0%, by weight, of a solid sorptive carrier; about 0.0% to 2.0%, by weight, of a drying agent and lubricant; and about 0.0% to 6.0%, by weight, of a de­activator; wherein said pesticidal composition is a solid sorptive granular pesticidal resin composition. The compositions are characterized by markendly reduced mammalian toxicity in comparison to the technical grade pesticide.

    A laminated structure comprising a base material made of a polyvinyl chloride resin, polystyrene resin, polyacrylic resin, polycarbonate resin or polyamide resin; having pro­vided on at least one surface thereof a layer of a blend of a polyesteramide and an EVOH. In this laminated structure the base material layer and the EVOH layer adhere firmly to each other. The structure is excellent in gas barrier properties, prevention of plasticizer bleeding and soil prevention, and is useful as wall paper, portfolio, desk mat, etc.
