modification of Rh2(esp)2 is presented. The introduction of a subtle substituent can freeze the conformational dynamics of the parent catalyst, allowing for the isolation of two conformationally distinct complexes. The utility of the conformational fixation in the development of stereoselective catalysts has been demonstrated in three model cases.
