The present invention relates to a process for producing a hydrogen-containing 2,2-difluoropropane of the following formula (1) and/or (2), which comprises subjecting a 2,2-difluoropropane selected from the group consisting of CCl₂FCF₂CHCl₂ and CHCl₂CF₂CHClF, to hydrogen reduction:
C₃Ha+n Cl6-a-n F₃ (1)
wherein 1≦a≦2, 1≦n¹≦4, 2≦n²≦5, 2≦a+n¹≦5 , and 3≦a+n²≦6 , wherein the hydrogen reduction is conducted by hydrogen at a temperature of from 100 to 300°C in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst selected from the group consisting of Pd, Pt, Pd-Ni and Pd-W.
