    A polyester fiber highly heat-resistant in a rubber matrix and useful as a reinforcing material for rubber articles, has a tensile strength of 8 g/d or more and is composed of a core portion made from a polyester resin and a skin portion made from a polyester resin and covering the core portion, the skin portion being in an amount of 5% to 20% based on the entire amount of the fiber and having a lower orientation and/or lower crystallinity than the core portion, which polyester fiber has been produced by treating a surface portion of a homogeneous polyester fiber consisting essentially of a polyester resin with a solvent capable of swelling the polyester resin or by coating a precursory polyester fiber for the core portion with a polyester resin for the skin portion.

    The present invention aims to provide a polyester resin having excellent adhesion to metal and curability and also having good storage stability. A polyester resin prepared from polyvalent arboxylic acid and glycol, characterized in that a total content of a terephthalic acid ingredient and an isophthalic acid ingredient is 70% by mol or more when a total content of the polyvalent carboxylic acid ingredient is taken as 100% by mol, a total content of an ethylene glycol ingredient and a 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol ingredient is 80% by mol or more when a total content of the glycol ingredient is taken as 100% by mol, its acid value is 5 mg KOH/g or more, a total content of an unreacted polyvalent carboxylic acid ingredient is 2,000 ppm or less and a content of a cyclic oligomer is 0.5% by mass or less.

    The present invention relates to powdered thermosetting compositions including a binder which comprises a carboxyl group containing amorphous isophthalic acid containing polyester, a carboxyl group containing aliphatic semi-crystalline polyester, an optional and different carboxyl group containing semi-crystalline polyester, at least 5 parts by weight, based on the total weight of the binder, of a specific glycidyl group containing acrylic copolymer and a curing agent having functional groups reactive with the polyesters' carboxyl groups. The powdered thermosetting compositions are useful for the preparation of powdered paints and varnishes which give semi-matt coatings having an outstanding flow, a remarkable weatherability and excellent mechanical properties.
