    A process for tinting a resin comprising dipping the resin into a liquid containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polar inorganic compounds and polar organic compounds and subsequently tinting the resin, wherein the resin is obtained by curing by polymerization of a compound alone or a composition comprising the compound, the compound having in the molecule thereof one or more structures represented by the following formula (1): wherein R1 represents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R2, R3 and R4 each represents hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, Y represents S or O and n represents 0 or 1. A novel resin comprising the compound having sulfur can be tinted in accordance with the present process.

[MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS] A biodegradable lubricating oil composition comprising (A) a synthetic ester base oil comprising at least 50 mass% hindered ester of an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid with an aliphatic hindered polyol which has one or more quaternary carbon atoms per molecule and in which at least one of the quaternary carbon atoms has one to four methylol groups bonded thereto and (B) ingredients which are (a) 0.1 to 5.0 mass% phenolic antioxidant, (b) 0.01 to 2.0 mass% calcium sulfonate having a low base number, and (c) 0.01 to 1.0 mass% triazole compound, and has the degree of biodegradation of 60 % or higher when examined by the test for the degree of microbial degradation of chemical substances according to the OECD Test Guideline 301C method.

    According to the present invention, a composition for an optical material, which comprises (a) a compound having two β-epithiopropyl groups and having a specific structure, (b) a compound having one β-epithiopropyl group and one glycidyl group and having a specific structure, (c) polyisocyanate and (d) polythiol, enables the prevention of the occurrence of such a defect that peeling traces linger on a lens. In the composition for an optical material according to the present invention, an embodiment in which (e) sulfur is additionally contained is preferred. Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for producing an optical material, characterized by adding an onium salt as a polymerization catalyst to the composition for an optical material in an amount of 0.0001 to 10% by mass relative to the total amount of the compound (a), the compound (b), polyisocyanate (c) and polythiol (d) and then polymerizing and curing the resultant mixture.
