Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Studies of Bicyclic Thiophene Derivatives. IV. Further Examples of Through-space H–F Coupling

Bicyclic thiophene derivatives, 3-methyl-4-(o-fluorophenyl)-2,3-dihydrothieno[2,3-d]-pyrimidin-2-ones (I) and N,5-dimethyl-4-(o-fluorophenyl)-5H-thieno[2,3-c]-pyrrole-6-carboxamides (II), have been prepared. Two sorts of 1H, 19F spin coupling over six bonds attributable to a through-space mechanism have been observed in the 1H NMR spectra of these compounds.
