Catalytic Silylation: SiO2-supported gold nanoparticle catalysts showed high activity for silylation of C(sp2)−H bond to afford a series of aryl and heteroarylsilanes. Detailed mechanistic investigation revealed that O2-activated Au NPs and ethers cooperatively functioned to generate silyl cation, thereby enabling electrophilic C−Si bond formation.
Whereas aryl(trialkyl)silanes are considered to be ideal organometallic reagents for cross‐coupling reactions owing to their stability, low toxicity, solubility, and easy accessibility, they are generally inert under typical cross‐coupling conditions. Disclosed herein is a palladium/copper catalytic system that enables the cross‐coupling of trimethyl, triethyl, tert‐butyldimethyl, and triisopropyl
The aryl radical from sulfoniumsalts have been generated through copper-metal-catalyzed processes, which enable the successful biaryl transformation through the addition to the aryl(trialkyl)silanes for the first time. Given the fast development in the copper catalysis, this method is expected to present new opportunities for exploring aryl(trialkyl)silanes in biaryl synthesis.
