Upon treatment with [Mo(CO)6], 3-phenyl-4,5-hexamethyleneisoxazole undergoes an inclusion of acetylenic ester across the C4-C5 bond and elimination of an oxygen atom leading to [6](2,5)pyridinophane derivative.
