Gold(I)-catalysedtandem transmetallation (Sn→Au→As) of the stannylcarbyne [W(≡CSnnBu3)(CO)2(Tp*)] (Tp* = hydrotris-(dimethylpyrazolyl)borate) with haloarsines gives direct access to a range of novel arsinocarbyne complexes, LnM≡CAsR2, including unusual heterocyclic phenarsazininyl and arsolyl examples.

Tetraphenyl-phosphole, -arsole, and -stibole transition-metal complexescontaining phosphorus-, arsenic-, or antimony-to-metal σ bonds are reported for molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, rhenium, and iron. The phosphorus- and arsenic-bridged dimers [M(CO)4(EC4Ph4)}2](E = P or As; M = Mn or Re) have been obtained by controlled decomposition of the corresponding monomeric pentacarbonyls.
