Light-harvesting composites of directly connected porphyrin–phthalocyanine dyads and their coordination dimers

Directly linked porphyrin (Por)-phthalocyanine (Pc) heterodyads (H(2)Por-H2Pc and H(2)Por-ZnPc) with an imidazolyl group at porphyrin's meso-position were synthesized. Introduction of a zinc ion into the porphyrin afforded stable complementary dimers of the heterodyads. The heterodyads and their dimers gave extensive and strong absorption bands owing to the porphyrin and phthalocyanine components and induced an efficient energy transfer from porphyrin to phthalocyanine. Strong fluorescence from phthalocyanine was observed in the case of H(2)Por-H2PC, (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
A method for coloring a material by reacting, on the material to be colored, (a) at least one aromatic isocyanate compound with (b) a > C = NH group-containing imino compound capable of reacting with the isocyanate compound to form color, and a color-forming material comprising the material carrying at least one of the compounds (a) and (b). The color formed by the reaction between the compounds (a) and (b) has excellent chemical resistance and light resistance.
