The bridging group in the ansa bis(fluorenyl) complexes [(C(13)H(8))(2)E]MCl(2) (E = CHBu, (CH(2))(2), CH(2)SiMe(2), SiMe(2), (SiMe(2))(2); M = Zr, Hf) has a strong influence on the catalytic properties of these metallocene catalysts after activation with methylalumoxane (MAO). We report the synthesis of new, silicon bridged catalyst precursors and compare their polymerization behaviour with known analogs.
