Using 1 as an N,N donor ligand, cationic copper(I) complexes of the type [Cu(1)2]X·nH2O (X− = ClO4−, n = 1.5; X− = PF6−, n = 0) and [Cu(1)(PPh3)2]X (X− = ClO4− or PF6−) have been synthesized. Simple preparation of terminal N-monoprotected triamines using fused piperazines
Terminal N-monoacylated triamines 6 were easily obtained by hydrolysis of the acylated fusedpiperazines 5, which were prepared by the reaction of triamines 1 with benzil 2 followed by acylation.

Interaction of benzil in methanol with 3-aza-1,5-diaminopentane in the presence of HgCl2 yields the title compound, 1,2,3,5,6,8a-hexahydro-8,8a-diphenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine. The molecule consists of a bicyclic system containing five- and six-membered heterocycles which are joined at C(6) and N(2). C(6) is a chiral centre and N(2) has distorted tetrahedral geometry around it. The molecule is puckered at the C(6)-N(2) bond.
