The invention relates to a radically polymerizable sulfur-containing compound having a group represented by formula (1) and at least one selected from among groups represented by formulae (2) to (4) , a radically polymerizable sulfur-containing polymer obtained by subjecting the compound to cationic ring-opening (co)polymerization, production process thereof, a composition containing the sulfur-containing compound and/or the sulfur-containing polymer, and a cured product obtained from the composition……………. The cured product obtained from the radically polymerizable sulfur-containing compound and the radically polymerizable sulfur-containing polymer having a high refractive index is useful as an optical material, especially for lens material.

A composition for plastic lenses having a viscosity suitable for application to plastic lens materials and other optical materials and capable of giving a cured material having a relatively high refractive index and a low specific gravity, a plastic lens obtained by curing the composition, and a process for producing the plastic lens. A specific dicarboxylic acid component and a specific diol component are employed and the ratio of the components is adjusted to provide the composition for plastic lenses.
The preparation of diterbutyl-N (diphenylmethylene) aminomethylphosphonate 3 in four steps (42% overall yield) from N-hydroxymethyl phtalimide 1 is described. Various alpha-substituted alpha-aminophosphonic acids 5 containing functionalized unsaturated chains have been synthesized by alkylation of 3 under phase transfer catalysis with halides, Michael acceptors and palladium promoted reactions, followed by mild hydrolysis.
