The transition-metal-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl and vinylchlorides with CO2 is rarely studied, and has been achieved only with a Ni catalyst or combination of palladium and photoredox. In this work, the cobalt-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl and vinylchlorides and bromides with CO2 has been developed. These transformations proceed under mild conditions and exhibit a broad substrate scope, affording

A Ni-catalyzed halogenation of enol triflates was developed and it enables the synthesis of a broad range of alkenyl iodides, bromides, and chlorides under mild reaction conditions. The reaction utilizes inexpensive, bench-stable Ni(OAc)2 ⋅4 H2 O as a precatalyst and proceeds at room temperature in the presence of sub-stoichiometric Zn and either 1,5-cyclooctadiene or 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyridine
Direct preparation of vinyl halides from the corresponding ketones and acetyl halides
Vinyl chlorides and bromides are obtained in good yield from the corresponding ketones and acetylhalides in the presence of trifluoroacetic or trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. The Z isomer is selectively formed.
Structurally diverse arylchlorides were silylated with sodium silylsilanolate reagents in the presence of a Ni(cod)2 catalyst complexed with a phosphine ligand; PMe2Ph for electron-rich substrates, and PCy2Ph for electron-deficient ones. The mild reaction conditions allowed the silylation of various arylchlorides including functionalised drug molecules.

A new synthetic method for the preparation of vinyl chlorides and vinylbromidesfromacyclic and cyclic ketones is described. Vinyl halides are practically obtained from the corresponding vinyl phosphate intermediates with triphenylphosphine dihalide.
