Short alkyl chain Heck (type) reactions, especially methyl Heck reactions, are a difficult aspect of the alkyl Heck reaction. To provide a solution to this problem, iron-catalyzed methyl, ethyl and propyl Heck reactions were developed using readily available alkyl peroxides as alkyl sources. The reaction conditions were mild, clean, and easy to handle. No additive was needed, and no hazardous waste

the ability to switch the actual function of the catalyst and resulting products. Here we report such an example of multi-dimensional catalysis. Featuring an easily prepared, bench-stable cobalt(I) hydride complex in conjunction with pinacolborane, we can switch the reaction outcome between two widely employed transformations, olefin migration and hydroboration, with visible light as the trigger.

C(sp3 )-C(sp) cross-coupling of (hetero)benzylic and (cyclic)allylic C-H bonds with terminal alkynes that occurs with high to excellent enantioselectivity. Critical to the success is the rationaldesign of chiral oxazoline-derived N,N,P(O)-ligands that not only tolerate the strong oxidative conditions which are requisite for intermolecular hydrogen atom abstraction (HAA) processes but also induce the

coupling of aryl triflates and nonaflates with alkyliodides using manganese(0) as a reductant is described. The method is applicable to the reductive alkylation of various aryl sulfonates, including o-borylaryl triflate, which enabled efficient construction of diverse alkylated arenes under mild conditions. A nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile coupling of aryl triflates and nonaflates with alkyl iodides
This paper describes the nickel-catalyzed reductivealkylation of aroyl fluorides with alkyl bromides in a decarbonylative manner. In this reaction, various functional groups are well tolerated and the C(sp2)–C(sp3) bond can be constructed directly without the use of organometallic reagents. The present reaction is a cross-electrophile coupling via the radical pathway, affording the corresponding alkylarenes
