    Hydrothermal reactions between H(4)ODPA (2,2',3,3'-oxydiphthalic acid) and metal ion salts of Ba2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and Gd3+ afford four novel coordination polymers [Ba(H(2)ODPA)(H2O)(4)] center dot H2O (1), [Cu-2(ODPA) (H2O)(3)] center dot H2O (2), Zn-2(ODPA)(H2O)(2) (3) and [Gd(HODPA)(H2O)(3.5)] center dot H2O (4), accordingly. These polymers show great differences in regard to their structures and properties originated from the variation of size and coordination geometry of the metal ions. Compound 1 presents puckered achiral layer structure with (4.82) topology with helices, 2 has a 63 topology with copper tetramer as SBUs, 3 has chiral layer with two kinds of helices built up from Zn-binuclear "paddle-wheel" like SBUs, and 4 features a simple 1D helix with opposite chirality. Compound 3 shows obvious fluorescent emissions upon excitation. Compound 2 shows ferromagnetic interactions between Cu-II centers bridged by carboxylate groups, whereas compound 4 presents weak ferromagnetic interaction between Gd-III ions. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V.     A method for purifying an oxydiphthalic anhydride comprises diluting a first mixture comprising an oxydiphthalic anhydride, a solvent, a catalyst, and an inorganic salt with a solvent, to provide a second mixture having a solids content of 10 to 30 percent based on total weight of the second mixture; filtering and washing the solids of the second mixture at a temperature below the crystallization point temperature of the oxydiphthalic anhydride to provide a third mixture; hydrolyzing the third mixture by adding water and a water-soluble acid to form a fourth mixture; heating the fourth mixture; then cooling to provide a solid-liquid mixture, optionally decanting a portion of the liquid, re diluting the remaining solid-liquid mixture, then filtering to provide a solid component; washing the solid component with water to provide a fifth mixture of oxydiphthalic tetra acid and water; ring closing the oxydiphthalic tetra acid to provide oxydiphthalic anhydride, and filtering the oxydiphthalic anhydride.

    The present invention provides a negative photosensitive resin composition that has high pigment dispersibility and stability and can reduce residues of unexposed portions during development. The present invention provides a negative photosensitive resin composition containing an (A) alkali-soluble resin, a (B) dispersant having an amine value exceeding 0, a (C) benzofuranone based organic pigment having an amide structure, a (D) radical polymerizable compound, and a (E) photoinitiator. In this negative photosensitive resin composition, the (A) alkali-soluble resin contains one or more selected from the group consisting of a (A1) polyimide, a (A2) polyimide precursor, a (A3) polybenzoxazole, and a (A4) polybenzoxazole precursor, and the (B) dispersant having an amine value exceeding 0 contains a (B1) dispersant including a repeating unit represented by general formula (2) and a repeating unit represented by general formula (3) and a (B2) dispersant that is an acrylic block copolymer having an amine value of 15 to 60 mgKOH/g and/or a (B3) dispersant having a urethane bond.     The present invention deals with a novel aromatic di-isoimide chemical compound that has utility as a catalyst and as a curing agent in epoxy compositions. The di-isoimide serves effectively as a thermally activated latent catalyst in epoxy curing, thereby increasing shelf life, and avoids premature cross-linking. Novel laminated articles and printed wiring boards, including encapsulated printed wiring boards are also disclosed. The composition hereof also can be used as a flame retardant in thermoplastic and thermoset polymers.
