A novel type of photoisomerization of aryldisilanes, which involves 1,3-migration of a β-trimethylsilyl group from silicon to a fluorinated aromatic carbon accompanied by backward 1,3-migration of the fluorine to the α-silicon, was found during irradiation of 2,6-difluorophenyldisilanes.
