    N2-phosphinyl amidine compounds, N2-phosphinyl amidinates, N2-phosphinyl amidine metal salt complexes, N2-phosphinyl amidinate metal salt complexes are described.     A ligand based chromium catalyst and application in catalyzing ethylene oligomerization are disclosed. The chromium catalyst is formed by a chromium compound and an organic ligand containing P and/or N. The substituents on N and P of the ligand can be replaced, whereby selective ethylene trimerization and tetramerization can be realized so as to produce 1-hexene and 1-octene at the same time.

    hosph(III)azanes, [(Ph2P)RNPNBut]2[R = Me or Et (cis- and trans-isomers); R = Pri or But(cis-isomers)], have been prepared by the reactions of N-lithiated alkyl-N-(diphenylphosphino) amines, N (PPh2)(R)(Li), with 2-cis-4-dichloro-1,3-di-t-butylcyclodiphosph(III)azane, (ClPNBut)2, in benzene solution. Hydrogen-1, 13C and 31P n.m.r. spectroscopy show that these compounds are cyclodiphosph(III)azenes

    4-substituted anthracyclinones of formula (I): wherein R represents a straight or branched alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group of up to 16 carbon atoms optionally substituted by (a) an aryl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by an inert group such as an alkyl, alkoxy or nitro group; (b) an alkoxy group; (c) a trialkylsilyl group, (d) an ester group or (e) an amido group, are intermediates in the preparation of antitumor anthracycline glycosides of formula (IX): wherein R is as defined above and R₁ is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

    A ligand based chromium catalyst and application in catalyzing ethylene oligomerization are disclosed. The chromium catalyst is formed by a chromium compound and an organic ligand containing P and/or N.
