  The combination of Nd(NO3)(3)center dot 6H(2)O with 2,6-bis(methylphosphonic acid)pyridine N-oxide (3-H-4) in water under hydrothermal conditions results in the formation of a complex Nd(3-H-2(2-)) (3-H-3(1-))(H2O)(4/3) and the molecular structure of the 1-D chain has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods.
