Couplings between phenylacetylene and the reagents, BrCCSiMe3(V), and ICCSiR3 (R = Me, Et) give the appropriate silylated phenylbutadiynes in poor yield because of symmetrical oxidative coupling (iodo compounds) or of base-sensitivity of the trimethylsilyl-acetylene bonds.
