    Heat-sensitive recording materials contain an electron-donating chromogenic compound and an electron-attracting compound. The recording materials also contain at least one compound represented by the following formula: wherein R₁ and R₃ mean a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl group, R₂ and R₄ denote an alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl group, X₁, X₂, Y₁ and Y₂ stand for an oxygen or a sulfur atom, and -Z₁- and -Z₂- are a specific aromatic group. Also provided are phenol compounds represented by the following formula: wherein R₁, R₂, X₁ and Y₁ have the same meanings as defined above; R₅ and R₆ are a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy, aralkyl, aryl or hydroxyl group; p and q stand for an integer of 1-4; R₅ and R₆ may be either the same or different when p and q represent an integer of 2 or greater; and -Z₃- means a specific divalent group.

    An article includes at least two contiguous layers containing a composition that includes a branched polycarbonate, optionally a linear carbonate-containing polymer, and 0 to less than 5 weight percent filler. The composition is characterized by an average mole percent branching of 0.06 to 2.4 mole percent, which is calculated as 100 times moles of branched carbonate units in the branched polycarbonate divided by the sum of moles of linear carbonate units in the branched polycarbonate and the optional linear carbonate-containing polymer. The composition is further characterized by a melt flow rate of 1 to 20 grams per 10 minutes, determined according to ASTM D1238-13 at 300 °C and 1.2 kilogram load. Also described is a method of additive manufacturing utilizing the composition.

    A particulate material for powder bed fusion has specific particle size characteristics and includes a thermoplastic and a sulfonate salt having the structure (A), wherein Z is a phosphorus atom or a nitrogen atom; each occurrence of X is independently halogen or hydrogen provided that at least one X is halogen; b, d, and e are integers from zero to 12; c is 0 or 1 provided that when c is 1, d and e are not both zero; R11_13 are each independently C1-C12 hydrocarbyl; R14 is C1-C18 hydrocarbyl; and Y is selected from (B)—wherein R15 is hydrogen or C1-C12 hydrocarbyl. Also described is a method of powder bed fusion utilizing the particulate material.

    In a continuous flow reactor one or more bisphenols is converted by the action of phosgene and aqueous base into a mixture of mono- and bisphenol chloroformates which are then treated with a catalyst, additional aqueous caustic and a monophenol to afford endcapped polycarbonates. At relatively high levels of added monophenol endcapped polycarbonate oligomers are obtained. The method is especially suited for the continuous preparation of endcapped oligomers of tetrabromobisphenol A polycarbonate. The method is characterized by efficient use of phosgene, and conversion of chloroformate groups to carbonate linkages aided by trialkylamine catalysts bearing at least one methyl group on nitrogen, such as N,N-dimethylbutylamine (DMBA).
