Synthesis and structure of binuclear complexes of palladium and platinum containing bridging diphenylphosphinate ligand

Treatment of [M2Cl2(mu-Cl)(2)(PP3)(2)] (M/PR3=Pt/PEt3, Pt/PBu3, Pt/SMe2Ph, Pt/PMePh2, Pd/PMe2Ph) with AgO2PPh2 at room temperature, gave diphenylphosphinato-bridged binuclear complexes [M2Cl2(mu-O2PPh2)(2)(PR3)(2)]. These complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Crystal and molecular structure of [Pt2Cl2(mu-O2PPh2)(2)(PMe2Ph)(2)] has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The eight membered metallocyclic ring "Pt-2(O2P)(2)" has a boat conformation with Pt ... Pt separation of 3.2212(6) Angstrom. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
