The invention relates to a polyurethane polymer-based aqueous dispersion and a method for preparing the same, a composition comprising the aqueous dispersion, use of the composition, and a coated article. The aqueous dispersion comprises a polyurethane polymer and water, wherein the polyurethane polymer is obtained by reacting a system comprising the following components: an isocyanate compound comprising a pentamethylene diisocyanate, wherein the amount of the pentamethylene diisocyanate is not less than 25 wt.% based on that the amount of the isocyanate compound is 100 wt.%; a polymer polyol having a number average molecular weight of not less than 400 g/mol, wherein the polymer polyol comprises a carbon dioxide-derived polyether carbonate polyol, the amount of which is not less than 40 wt.% based on that the amount of the polymer polyol is 100 wt.%; an amino compound having an amino functionality of greater than 1; and a compound comprising at least one isocyanate-reactive group and at least one ionic or potentially ionic hydrophilic group.
