The single freeenergies of the reference ions Ph 4 Sb + and Ph 4 B − were also estimated. p]On plotting the relationship between the freeenergies of transfer of Ph 4 SbBPh 4 against Gutmann's acceptor and donor numbers, good agreement was obtained, indicating the similarity of the electrostatic charges on the two reference ions.
