Four novel donor–acceptor type polymers exhibit superior p- and n-doping processes, lower optical band gaps, robust stabilities and excellent optical contrasts in the NIR region. Two of them exhibit a green colour in the neutral state.

Engineered Metallacycle‐Based Supramolecular Photosensitizers for Effective Photodynamic Therapy
series of high-performance photosensitizers (PSs) was designed and synthesized using a molecular engineering approach for building blocks of RuII metallacycles. Subsequently, the photosensitizer with the highest reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation efficiency, biocompatibility, and phototoxicity index (PI), RuD, was selected for safe and effectivephotodynamictherapy in vitro and in vivo.
Donor-acceptor type new organosilicon polymers that consisted of bithiophene unit as the donor and benzochalcogenadiazole or pyridine as the acceptor were synthesized by the Stifle cross coupling reactions of bis(iodothienyl)benzochalcogenadiazoles or bis(bromothienyl)pyridine with 1,2-bis (trimethylstannylthienyl)disilane. The photoreactions of these polymers with TiO2 electrodes led to the polymer-modified electrodes by the formation of Si-O-Ti linkages. The pyridine-containing polymer pT(4)Py could be attached to the TiO2 surface also under the dark conditions by N-Ti coordination. The polymer-modified TiO2 were applied to dye sensitized solar cells and the highest power conversion efficiency of 0.40% was obtained with the TiO2 electrode photochemically-modified by pT(4)Py. Novel A-D-A-D-A-type oligothiophenes incorporating electron-withdrawing benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole (BTDA) as core and trifluoroacetyl (TFA) as terminal acceptor groups have been developed. Vacuum-processed planar heterojunction organic solar cells incorporating these new oligomers as donor and C-60 as acceptor showed very high open circuit voltages up to 1.17 V, resulting in power conversion efficiencies of 1.56% under AM1.5G conditions.
