  A series of organoantimony compounds which contain the novel SbCH2Sb moiety was prepared. Among these, only compounds of the type [X(CH3)3Sb]2CH2 were easily cleaved by a base to give (CH3)4Sb+ and (CH3)3Sb2+ species. Three infrared bands in the KBr region ϱ(CH2), vasym(SbCSb) and vsym(SbCSb), were found to be characteristic of the SbCH2Sb moiety. A relationship obtained between ϱ(CH2) and vav(SbCSb)
