Metal ion-directed synthesis of 16-membered tetraazamacrocyclic complexes and their physico-chemical studies
摘要:
Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) containing macrocyclic tetradentate nitrogen donor (N-4) ligand have been synthesized from the template condensation reaction between o-phthalaldehyde and o-phenylenediamine. The newly synthesized ligand and its complexes have been characterized on the basis of results of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, FT-IR, electronic, H-1 FT NMR spectral data and Job's method. Their thermal behaviour has been studied by the thermogravimetric analysis. An octahedral geometry has been proposed for all of these complexes except the copper complexes, which show distorted octahedral geometry. The low conductivity data suggest their non-ionic nature. The biological activities of the metal complexes have also been studied against different bacteria. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Single crystals of the title compound are monoclinic, space group P21/n with two formula units per cell of the following dimensions: a = 18.209, b = 19.076, c = 4.075 Å, β = 92.43°. The crystals show metallicconductivity along the needle axis from room temperature down to ca. 180 K, the maximum conductivity at room temperature being 455 (Ω cm)−1.

A series of nickel complexes with 1,3-xylylenediamine, 1,2-diaminobenzene and 1,2-aminobenzylamine were first synthesized and characterized. The reaction of these amines with Ni(OAc)(2) center dot 4H(2)O and NiCl2 center dot 6H(2)O in methanol or tetrahydrofuran resulted in the production of four novel nickel complexes I, II, III, and IV. The structure of each complex was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Each complex was also characterized using elemental analysis, H-1 NMR and IR. The complexes were then used to catalyze the Henry reaction, and good catalytic results (65-99%) were achieved. The catalytic activity of the complexes was determined by H-1 NMR.

Two novel oximes containing di- and tetraoxime groups, dichloro-[N,N'-bis(2-aminophenyl)diaminoglyoxime]nickel(II), [Ni(LH2)Cl-2], and dichloro-[5,6:11,12-dibenzo-2,3,8,9-tetra(hydroxyimino)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyelododecane]}- nickel(II), [Ni(LH4)Cl-2], have been synthesized by the template condensation reaction of dichloro-[N,N'-bis-(1,2-diaminobenzene)]nickel(II) with anti-dichloroglyoxime. Trinuclear complexes of [Ni(LH2)Cl-2] with Ni(II), Cu(II) and Co(II) have been synthesized. A polynuclear complex of [Ni(LH4)Cl-2] with Ni(II) has been prepared. The structures of these novel oxime compounds are proposed on the basis of the elemental analyses, IR and UV-Visible spectra and conductivity measurements. Conductivity measurements have shown that all complexes are non-electrolytes.
