    A process for producing an aromatic polyester having an increased degree of polymerization, which comprises reacting a substantially linear, fiber forming aromatic polyester containing terminal carboxyl groups and having an aromatic dicarboxylic acid as a main acid component at an elevated temperature with a bis-cyclic imino ether compound of the formula (I) such as 2,2'-bis(2-oxazoline), 2,2'--bis(5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-oxazine) thereby bonding the molecular chains of the aromatic polyester to each other by the terminal carboxyl groups thereof to rapidly form said aromatic polyester having and increased degree of polymerization. Said reaction can be carried out under atmospheric or elevated pressure. According to the process, an aromatic polyester having a low terminal carboxyl concentration and an increased degree of polymerization can be obtained. n =0 or 1; X1 and X2 typically are -CH2-CH2- or -CH2-CH2-CH2-: R1 and R2 typically are hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon group; D typically is a divalent hydrocarbon group, e.g. ethylene, propylene, butylene.

    Disclosed is a heat-shrinkable biaxially drawn polyamide film which is formed from a homopolymer or copolymer of ε-caprolactam or a polyblend thereof, by a sequential biaxial drawing method and which has a density of 1.129 to 1.136 g/cm³ and an in-plane orientation index of 0.0535 to 0.0580. This film is prepared by the steps of drawing in the machine direction a substantially amorphous unoriented polyamide film at 45 to 65°C, a deformation rate of at least 10,000%/min and a draw ratio of 2.7 to 3.5 by a roll type longitu­dinal drawing method, gripping the ends of the film by tenter clips, drawing the film in the transverse direction at a film temperature not higher than 100°C, an average deformation rate of 2,000 to 10,000%/min and a draw ratio of 3 to 5, and heat-treating the film at 125 to 170°C while gripping the ends of the film by the tenter clips.

    A polymer which is useful as a thermoplastic rubbery binder for oxidizer particles, such as HMX and RDX, for the preparation of low vulnerability gun propellants is provided by a segmented thermoplastic copolyester elastomer consisting essentially of a multiplicity of recurring intralinear long chain and short chain ester units connected head-to-tail through ester linkages, said long chain ester units being represented by a structure selected from the following group consisting of: and and said short chain ester units being represented by the following structure: wherein: G is a divalent radical remaining after removal of terminal hydroxyl groups from a poly(alkylene oxide) glycol having a carbon-to-oxygen ratio of about 2.0-4.3 and a molecular weight of about 600-6000; R is a divalent radical remaining after removal of carboxyl groups from a dicarboxylic acid having a molecular weight less than about 300; D is a divalent radical remaining after removal of hydroxyl groups from a linear diol having 2-8 carbon atoms and represented by the formula HO(CH2)2-8OH or the diol HO(CH2CH = CHCH2)OH;and T is a trivalent radical remaining after the removal of carboxyl groups from a tricarboxylic acid having a molecular weight less than about 350 and containing two vicinal carboxyl groups capable of forming a cyclic imide; with the proviso that the short chain ester units constitute about 30-65% by weight of the copolyester, at least about 50% of the R groups are 1,4-phenylene radicals, at least about 50% of the D groups are 1,6-hexamethylene radicals, and the sum of the percentages of the R groups which are not 1,4-phenylene radicals and of the D groups which are not 1,6-hexamethylene radicals is about 5-50%. For use as a propellant binder it is preferred that the copolyester have a melt index at 120°C by ASTM-D1238 of about 2-25 grams/10 minutes.
