    The present invention relates to novel macrocyclic compounds and salts thereof that bind to and/or are inhibitors of serine protease enzymes.     The present invention relates to a device for the removal of substances from blood and other fluids, said device comprising i) an electrosorption filter for removing substances such as toxins, toxic solutes, toxic small and middle-sized molecules and protein bound toxins from blood, blood plasma or dialysate fluid, said electrosorption filter comprising a DC power source, a set of electrodes, nanostructured sorption material and/or a porous polymer matrix, ii) an inlet for entry of blood or blood plasma or dialysate fluid into said device, iii) an outlet for the removal of purified blood or blood plasma or dialysate fluid from said device, and iv) a conduit connecting said inlet with said outlet and holding said electrosorption filter such that said blood, blood plasma or dialysate fluid is forced through said electrosorption filter. The device of the present invention is also applicable for the purification of other fluids such as water, chemicals and other biofluids.
