Synthesis and Structural Studies of Some 3d Metal Complexes of Tetradentate Unsymmetrical Schiff Bases

Complexes of the types M(dapbzgh)Cl-2 and M(dap(bzgh)(2))Cl-2 [M = OV(II), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II); dapbzgh = 2,6-diacetylpyridine N-benzoylglycylhydrazone and dap(bzgh)(2) = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(N-benzoylglycylhydrazone)] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, electronic, IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectral studies. Tetrahedral geometry for the Co(II) complexes, square pyramidal geometry for the OV(II) complexes and distorted octahedral geometry for the remaining complexes have been proposed.
