Anodic oxidation of various 1,3-diaryl-3-methyltriazenes proceeds via the radicalcation. During the oxidation of 1-aryl-3-methyl-3-(p-methoxyphenyl)triazenes a common product is found and identified by means of ESR- and ENDOR-spectroscopy: the 2,7-dimethoxy-5,10-dimethyl-5,10-dihydrophenazine radicalcation. The occurence of this species confirms the postulated cleavage between nitrogen atoms N(2)
