SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME BIVALENT METAL COMPLEXES OF SCHIFF BASES DERIVED FROMas-TRIAZINE

New complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with the new Schiff bases derived from the condensation of 4-amino-3-mercapto-6-methyl-5-oxo-1,2,4-as-triazine (HAMMOT) with anisaldehyde (HAnMMOT), o-vanillin (H2MMOVT), indole-3-carboxyaldehyde (HIMMOT) and acetophenone (HAcMMOT), respectively, have been synthesized. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, infrared and electronic spectral data. The ligands have been characterized on the basis of IR and H-1 NMR spectra. The Schiff bases HAnMMOT, HIMMOT and HAcMMOT act as bidentate S,N donor and H2MMOVT acts as terdentate S,N,O donor ligands. The thermal stabilities of the complexes are also reported.
