  通过10,10-二杂芳基甲基-9,10-二氢蒽-9-ols 6a - f的分子内脱水反应合成了一系列带有呋喃，噻吩和吡啶环7a - f的杂环同型三萜。在存在酸的情况下，仲醇6a – f所示的不同反应取决于连接的杂环的电子密度。最初形成的碳正离子与富电子杂环发生亲电反应。跨环桥的形成（1,7消除）导致高同型三联体。当杂环具有中等电子密度时，存在两个竞争反应，分别通过1,4-消除生成9-单取代的蒽或通过重排生成9,10-二取代的蒽。电子不足的杂环发生歧化反应，生成烃和酮。
