    Described herein are embodiments of compositions and methods relating to three-dimensional (3D) printing. Some embodiments are directed to a composition comprising a polymer with one or more dormant functional groups. According to some embodiments, the polymer may be formed through a controlled radical polymerization method. Some embodiments are directed to a composition comprising a polymer with one or more pendent crosslinkable groups. In some cases, the composition may be used as an “ink” for 3D printing. For example, the composition may be injected into a medium. The composition and/or medium may, in some embodiments, further comprise an initiator and/or a crosslinker. After injection of the composition into the medium, the one or more dormant functional groups and/or one or more pendent crosslinkable groups may be activated, and the polymer may be crosslinked. In certain cases, the crosslinked polymer may be removed from the medium to produce a freestanding three-dimensional structure.

    A flame retardant composition and a method of making a flame retardant composition is provided. In an embodiment, the method includes reacting a phosphazene material with an acrylamide monomer material to form a functionalized phosphazene material; initiating a polymerization reaction on a reaction mixture comprising a functionalized phosphazene material and one or more monomers to form a first impact-modified phosphazene material; and reacting the first impact-modified phosphazene material with a poly(dichlorophosphazene) monomer material, and a reactant selected from the group consisting of R1OH, HNR2R3, or a combination thereof, to form a second impact-modified phosphazene material.

    The present invention provides polymers and methods of preparing the same. In certain embodiments, the polymers comprise acrylate repeating units that have been derivatized (e.g., reduced and/or substituted) to form new polymeric structures. In certain embodiments, the polymers described herein self-assemble to form well-defined nanostructures. In some instances, the nanostructures exhibit relatively small d-spacing (e.g., a d-spacing value of 10 nm or less). Due to their properties, the polymers described herein are useful in a variety of applications including functional materials and biomedical applications.

    Disclosed are methods, compositions, kits, and reagents to prepare compounds (e.g. polymers and small molecules) via radical reactions by utilizing thermoresponsive and photoresponsive gels. This invention discloses the preparation of polymers via controlled radical polymerizations from an iniferter or initiator, one or more reactant monomer, and a thermoresponsive and photoresponsive gel. Embodiments of the invention show that the polymerization is reversibly activated and/or deactivated by controlling one or more of the following external control stimuli: temperature, light, and catalyst presence. This invention also relates the preparation of Gel-PTH, a heterogeneous thermoresponsive and photoresponsive gel.
