SYNTHETIC CONTROL BY INTERNAL COORDINATION OF METAL SALTS THE INTRAMOLECULAR ENE REACTIONS OF<i>N</i>-(3-METHYL-2-BUTENYL)-<i>N</i>-(2-HYDROXYPHENYL)ACRYLAMIDES
An efficient method for acceleration of the intramolecular ene reactions is established. The magnesium salts of N-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)acrylamides afford the corresponding cyclized products in high yields with the predominant formation of δ-lactams.
